Pat Collins’ and Fergus Daly’s documentary is a unique film essay on the world-renowned Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami who passed away in 2016. The film is framed around two interviews with Kiarostami, one on the Aran Islands and the other at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. Intercut with these are interpretations of his work by those at the forefront of film criticism: Alain Bergala, Godfrey Cheshire, Michel Ciment, Adrian Martin and Jonathan Rosenbaum and colleagues such as Marin Karmitz, Jamsheed Akrami and Mohammad Attebai. Abbas Kiarostami: The Art of Living was picked up for international distribution by MK2 France.
“A fascinating examination of Kiarostami's still photography, video art and haiku-like poetry - it has something to offer viewers regardless of their familiarity with the Iranian auteur's work" - Scott Foundas, Variety
